The Twyford Writers are a group of about 12 budding writers who meet together on the first Thursday of every month in the centre of Tiverton, Devon. We meet to share stories and support each other in our creative pursuit.
Twyford Writers were founded in May 2003 by a local college tutor Julia Finan, in her home. At the inauguration six people attended.
The group caters for all ages and abilities; those who have a desire to learn how to write as well as those having experience to share.
It is important that individuals, who wish to write, can meet with others who will be sympathetic to and understanding of the frustrations of the writer.
The emphasis of the group is on enjoyment and encouragement, with new initiatives to provide structured and positive constructive criticism.
Published authors and other professionals, in various areas of the literary world, are invited to talk to us about the art of writing and getting published; we also have tutor-led workshops on specific themes and genres.
As a group we are blessed with having people from all walks of life. We hope that having visited our website you will be encouraged to seek your own writer’s path, perhaps to seek out other like-minded people and maybe set up your own writer’s group. We can highly recommend it as a means of generating ideas and support.
